Fully Certified through YogaKids International

I’m not just teaching yoga to children but empowering them to do and be so much more! My lessons and teaching methodologies with YogaKids addresses Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences: kinesthetic, linguistic, intra and interpersonal, spatial, naturalist, musical, logical-mathematical, existential. Every lesson includes the 14 YogaKids elements to correlate with children’s different learning styles and connects with each child in their own way. Some of my kids favorites are the We all Win Games, Bridge of Diamonds, Visual Vignettes, and connecting and learning more about nature with Echological Echoes.

Mindfulness & Movement for Children

My name is Sarah and I’ve practiced different styles of yoga for over 12 years. I started practicing while training for my first full marathon in college and needed another way to strengthen and recover after long runs.  I attended Arizona State University and studied education and child development and two weeks after graduating, started teaching third grade but have been working with children since the age of 12.
I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, center director, tutor, nanny, children with autism, in day care centers, and more. I now have my own daughter who is two, and what I’ve learned and love about working with children is the way they learn. Every child is naturally curious and loves to move, explore, create, and express themselves. I first began teaching informal yoga to my kindergartners in 2012 as a way to add some extra fun into our classroom before specialists but quickly realized how much they loved it and would ask for it daily and started to make up their own poses while reading stories.
After having my own daughter and thinking about what I wanted to do when I grew up, it only made sense that I merged my two greatest passions - children and yoga. I partnered with my local studio and started assisting their children’s yoga program and began my journey training with YogaKids International. After 195 hours of training and learning, I am proud to be a fully certified YogaKids International instructor. Unlike yoga for adults, the YogaKids program specifically supports the capacities of children of all ages.
I love teaching children about all of the different aspects of yoga, making it fun, and incorporating all of the amazing 14 YogaKids elements. My kids have the most fun with the "We all Win" games, Laughing Language, Musical Musings, and make some pretty amazing Visual Vignettes! I love teaching kids through yoga to connect to each other, the world around them, and most importantly, themselves. Yoga is not a race, its not being told what to do or how to do it, it's about listening to, trusting, and learning from yourself. Everything we need is already within us. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing children's lights shine, watching them grow and receiving feedback from parents on the ways that yoga is benefiting their child.
I’m proud and honored to bring YogaKids to children of all ages to my community.
